10th Year of Travel Summaries

Welcome to MarkWasson.com The Mark Wasson Site, the official site for information about Mark Wasson.  Feel free to check out the site map.

The site was last updated on June 9, 2009 with my reviews of the movies that I saw at this year's Seattle International Film Festival.  I was a big fan of SIFF when I first moved to Seattle, as I enjoy independent and art house-type movies.  But because I'm often traveling this time of year, my attendance has been somewhat spotty.  And then there was 2008, where I was generally in town, but skipped the festival altogether.  The organizers like to brag about the size of the festival - it is the largest film festival in the country - but I've noticed over the years that many of my lower-rated movies have been festival movies, so I'm less inclined to hit the festival screenings as much as I used to.  SIFF seems to live by the philosophy that bigger is definitely not better.

I'm also somewhat struck by the local moviegoers.  The Landmark theatre chain has a number of venues in town where independent and art house movies are regularly shown.  But whereas the festival can fill seats for a 9:30PM showing, the 9:30PM shows that I regularly attend at Landmark rarely draw more than a few people, which concerns me as I don't want to lose any Landmark venues.

No travel updates this time, but I'm about to make my seventh trip to Europe, this time to pick up the leftover countries in Western Europe.  I hope to have that posted by late July.

Site Info

MarkWasson.com The Mark Wasson Site is a place where I can provide information about me, my interests and my travels.  Some of the content targets an outside audience - not that I know why there's much of an outside audience for this, but a handful of people do drop by every day.  Some of the content is there for my own use, as this site also serves as my internet home page.

If you have any questions or comments about the site, or if you would like permission to use any of my pictures for something (that one has been a surprise, as people do ask more than a few times a year), drop me a note at madawa you know wh@t to put here msn.com, and put MARKWASSON in the subject header (sorry about the fuss, but my spam filters might block you if you don't).  I don't check e-mail a lot, but I will get back to you.

Other Sites of Note

Here I'm plugging the websites, etc., of relatives, friends, colleagues and others I know.  Check them out.

Trudy Wasson (mom) and Julie Baird (sister) create original quilt patterns and hand-dyed fabrics, and offer them and related information about quilting through Generations Quilt Patterns.  The website is in development.

Carl Sondrol (my cousin) runs Sondrol Music, creator of original music for films, TV shows, commercials, games, and other projects.

If you think of yourself as a friend or relative of mine and would like me to give your website a plug here, drop me a note to introduce yourself, and let me know what the link is.
