I travel a lot, and I take a lot of pictures when I travel.  I don't consider myself a real photographer - I use point and shoot cameras with built-in zoom, after all.  But because I travel a lot, and am willing to get more than a few feet away from my car, the surroundings do their part in giving me some decent picture-taking opportunities.

You will find some of my favorite pictures below.  There are a whole lot more of my pictures on my pages on the travel picture website Worldisround.com.  I will also add entries to my photo collections and on my PhotoBlog over time.

I went digital in 2004.  For pictures before than, film speeds were typically 100 or 200, most were developed at the local grocery store, and then I scanned them in.  Most are reduced size and resolution, something I've done for website space reasons.  Some older favorites follow:

Late day near the Devil's Garden at Arches National Park, and still my favorite vacation picture:

End shot of Delicate Arch at Arches National Park; the sun finally broke out after a rainy start to the day:

The colorful rock layers are exposed along a nature trail at Dinosaur National Monument:

A view into Zion Canyon along the Virgin River in Zion National Park:

Another Zion shot, this one of the Virgin River Narrows hiking (and wading) trail:

The colorful hoodoos of Bryce Canyon National Park:

The fading light at dusk at Grand Canyon National Park; the tree is right on the edge of the canyon:

Wheeler Peak is visible through a gap in the aspens at Great Basin National Park:

A trail leads up to a lone tree atop Buck Hill at Theodore Roosevelt National Park:

One view of the Big Sur from a highway turnout:

When I was in central Alaska one July, the late blue sky often took on a golden hue; I can't explain it other than it probably had something to do with the angle of the sun that far north:

Trees and colorful rocks along the trail to Hidden Lake at Glacier National Park:
